However, the lack of electricity made it impossible for the hearing to proceed.<\/p>\n<p>Presiding Judge Dr. James Alala Deng subsequently adjourned the session because of the power outage.<\/p>\n<p>The case was rescheduled to 15 July, when the judges are expected to rule on an application previously submitted by the prosecution and opposed by the defense.<\/p>\n<p>The trial has attracted significant public attention as it involves first vice president Dr. Riek Machar and several co-accused facing charges before the Special Court.<\/p>\n<p>The proceedings have been marked by a series of legal arguments between the prosecution and the defense over procedural matters and applications submitted during the trial.<\/p>\n<p>At the previous hearing, the prosecution made an application before the court, which was strongly opposed by the defense team.<\/p>\n<p>Rather than issuing an immediate ruling, the judges reserved their decision, which is now expected to be delivered when the court reconvenes on 15 July.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Yiep Joseph The Special Court on Tuesday adjourned its proceedings after a power outage left the Freedom Hall courtroom without electricity.
