We get ourselves neglected, and that makes it hard for us to get any realisation of our rights being implemented,” she stated.

“You find some young ladies who are even pursuing higher education being married off and no assignment given to them; it is time to appropriate the roles to them,” she noted.

Ms. Agong even urged the local leadership in the traditional setting, such as the local court, to apportion some jobs to the young women who are flexible to serve in solving the matters that are complicated in the rural setting.

“Even during the court hearing, we need our views taken into consideration, as some men can decide on our behalf. Women can decide on critical matters in courts,” she advised.

In response, Joseph Ngong, the executive director of Twic County, acknowledges the prevalence of pervasive neglect of the leaders among women who can serve the community.

Ngong says their administration under the leadership of the commissioner of Twic County and the entire state of Warrap would look into merging the roles of the paramount chiefs with those of the women to get qualified women in the local government.

This latest call among the women of the Greater Warrap State from Twic County highlights the need for women to realise their potential through women’s emancipation, as advocacy efforts are being carried out to fight for the injustices being carried out against girls and women in the communities.

The event, the community dialogue, was organised by the local organisation known as Gender Empowerment for All South Sudanese Organisation, working to raise efforts and awareness in ending violence against girls and women.

By Hou Akot Hou Women in Twic County of Warrap State have called on all government institutions and the entire local community leadership to always consider them.
