This could help facilitate their struggle in achieving their dreams,” said Athian.

He said many learners have stepped back in learning as the conditions of meeting the demand of scholastic materials have forced them out, saying it could demoralise the learners who would have taken up the community in delving services later in the day after studies.

“These learners will be future leaders, and if the partners keep pushing for us, then we would be in a position to deliver as teachers despite the challenges we are facing in the field,” he noted.

One of the beneficiaries of the scholastic materials, Mary Nyibol Garang, appreciates the steps taken by the organisation, urging the organisation to be supportive across the state.

“We would like to appreciate the NGO, Windle Trust, for these gifts, as rains have been destroying our materials (books and exercise), and now that we have them, it would facilitate our learning,” she said.

“I am appealing to the Organisation to recognise the fact that the majority of the children in the rural communities don’t have access to education simply because their parents never meet their scholastic demands; let them reach out to them or go deep to them if they truly need to be featured among other organisations doing relief,” she urges.

Windle Trust is also partnering with the Ministry of General Education and Instruction in training teachers and helping those among the instructors who have not completed their secondary education to have evening classes so that later on they can sit for the national examinations that begin for both primary and secondary leavers.

By Hou Akot Hou Children in Basic learning institutions in Aweil North County have begun receiving scholastic materials such as exercise books, pens and pencils including bags early last week in Wath-Thok primary school in Aweil North county in Northern Bahr El Ghazal state.
