{"id":46034,"date":"2026-07-13T16:40:57","date_gmt":"2026-07-13T14:40:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/?p=46034"},"modified":"2026-07-13T16:40:57","modified_gmt":"2026-07-13T14:40:57","slug":"yei-authorities-launch-investigation-into-the-killing-of-three-civilians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2026\/07\/13\/yei-authorities-launch-investigation-into-the-killing-of-three-civilians\/","title":{"rendered":"Yei authorities launch investigation into the killing of three civilians"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>By James Innocent<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u200eAuthorities in Yei River County have condemned the killing of three civilians along the Yei\u2013Maridi road and say security agencies have launched investigations to identify those responsible.<\/p>\n<p>\u200eYei River County Commissioner Samuel Henry Malimbo said the County Security Committee met following the incidents, which occurred in Kirikwa, about 16 kilometres from Yei town.<\/p>\n<p>\u200eAccording to the commissioner, the first victim was killed on South Sudan&#8217;s Independence Day while travelling to purchase cattle for business.<\/p>\n<p>Two more civilians were killed in the same area at the same time in separate incidents. He said the attackers remain unidentified.<\/p>\n<p>\u200eMalimbo described the killings as unacceptable and said the county administration strongly condemns the violence, noting that such attacks undermine peace, public safety, and development in Yei River County.<\/p>\n<p>\u200eHe said security agencies are actively investigating the incidents and pursuing those responsible.
