{"id":46296,"date":"2026-07-22T16:02:54","date_gmt":"2026-07-22T14:02:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/?p=46296"},"modified":"2026-07-22T17:34:00","modified_gmt":"2026-07-22T15:34:00","slug":"governor-emmanuel-adil-calls-on-youth-to-promote-peace-and-responsible-participation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2026\/07\/22\/governor-emmanuel-adil-calls-on-youth-to-promote-peace-and-responsible-participation\/","title":{"rendered":"Governor Emmanuel Adil calls on youth to promote peace, and responsible participation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>By Yiep Joseph<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony has appealed to young people to play a leading role in safeguarding peace and strengthening national unity.<\/p>\n<p>The governor also encouraged the youth to ensure responsible participation as the country moves toward the December 2026 general elections.<\/p>\n<p>The governor made the call during discussions with a group of youth representatives drawn from South Sudan\u2019s 10 states and three administrative areas.<\/p>\n<p>The delegation was headed by Central Equatoria State Youth Union Chairperson Aggrey Duku Arkangelos.<\/p>\n<p>The youth representative, Aggrey Duku Arkangelos, expressed readiness to work with the Adil administration.<\/p>\n<p>He pledged to support peaceful community mobilisation efforts and encourage citizens to take part constructively in the upcoming electoral process.<\/p>\n<p>During the engagement, the youth leaders recognised the governor\u2019s efforts to involve young people in leadership and decision-making roles.<\/p>\n<p>Duku also raised concerns affecting youth, including limited access to skills development opportunities, vocational training, and higher education, urging greater investment in institutions that can prepare young people for employment and leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Adil encouraged youth organisations to take responsibility for educating communities about the electoral process through civic awareness campaigns.<\/p>\n<p>He said improving public understanding of elections would help address challenges linked to low literacy levels and promote informed participation.<\/p>\n<p>The governor also urged young people to reject tribal divisions and work as champions of peace and unity.<\/p>\n<p>He warned against allowing themselves to be used by individuals pursuing personal political interests and advised them to avoid violence, rebellion, and activities that threaten national stability.<\/p>\n<p>Adil further called for peace initiatives in cattle-keeping communities, saying campaigns in cattle camps would help reduce intercommunal conflicts and encourage peaceful relations among communities.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting ended with a shared commitment between the Central Equatoria State Government and youth representatives to collaborate in advancing peacebuilding efforts, national cohesion, and meaningful youth involvement ahead of the 2026 elections.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Yiep Joseph Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony has appealed to young people to play a leading role in safeguarding peace and strengthening national unity.
