{"id":46662,"date":"2026-08-01T11:20:48","date_gmt":"2026-08-01T09:20:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/?p=46662"},"modified":"2026-08-07T12:03:01","modified_gmt":"2026-08-07T10:03:01","slug":"wes-governor-pledges-support-for-persons-with-disabilities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2026\/08\/01\/wes-governor-pledges-support-for-persons-with-disabilities\/","title":{"rendered":"Wes Governor pledges support for persons with disabilities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Sabri Dibaco <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Governor of Western Equatoria State, Daniel Badagbu Rimbasa, has reaffirmed his administration\u2019s commitment to improving the welfare and economic empowerment of persons with disabilities by pledging government support to open and construct access roads leading to their farming areas in Yambio.<\/p>\n<p>The governor committed during a meeting with representatives of persons living with disabilities, where he acknowledged the challenges they face and emphasised the importance of their full participation in the state&#8217;s development.<\/p>\n<p>He pledged that the state government would facilitate the opening and construction of access roads to agricultural land located in the Mamenze area behind Yambio Central Prison, where many persons with disabilities cultivate crops.<\/p>\n<p>According to the governor, in a press statement, improving road access will enable farmers with disabilities to reach their fields more easily, transport produce to markets, and increase agricultural productivity, contributing to household incomes and food security.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Neiman Gbinda John, a representative of persons living with disabilities, outlined the key challenges affecting their community and appealed for greater government and humanitarian support.<\/p>\n<p>She said that persons with disabilities continue to experience discrimination and social exclusion, while also facing a lack of office space for their association and concerns over the protection of their human rights.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe continue to face discrimination, lack of office space, human rights concerns, limited access to rural areas, weak engagement with humanitarian organisations, inadequate agricultural support, and a shortage of transport, including bicycles,\u201d the statement reads.<\/p>\n<p>She called on the state government, development partners, and humanitarian agencies to strengthen collaboration with organisations representing persons with disabilities and ensure they are included in development and livelihood programs.<\/p>\n<p>The representatives also urged authorities to improve access to farming inputs, transportation, and social services, saying these interventions would enable persons with disabilities to become more self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to the state&#8217;s economic growth.<\/p>\n<p>The governor assured the delegation that their concerns had been noted and pledged that his administration would continue working with relevant stakeholders to promote inclusion, equal opportunities, and improved livelihoods for persons with disabilities across Western Equatoria State.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Sabri Dibaco The Governor of Western Equatoria State, Daniel Badagbu Rimbasa, has reaffirmed his administration\u2019s commitment to improving the welfare and economic empowerment of persons with disabilities by pledging government support to open and construct access roads leading to their farming areas in Yambio.
