{"id":46733,"date":"2026-08-08T12:57:58","date_gmt":"2026-08-08T10:57:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/?p=46733"},"modified":"2026-08-10T13:11:15","modified_gmt":"2026-08-10T11:11:15","slug":"windle-trust-distributes-books-to-asep-teachers-in-nbgs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2026\/08\/08\/windle-trust-distributes-books-to-asep-teachers-in-nbgs\/","title":{"rendered":"Windle Trust distributes books to ASEP teachers in NBGs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>By Hou Akot Hou<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>An international organisation, Windle Trust, has begun distributing textbooks to teachers enrolled in the Accelerated Secondary Education Program (ASEP) across Northern Bahr el Ghazal State.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative aims to help the teachers prepare for the national secondary school examinations scheduled for November or December.<\/p>\n<p>Many teachers in South Sudan missed educational opportunities during the country&#8217;s liberation war.<\/p>\n<p>To address this challenge, the World Bank is supporting the government of South Sudan through programs that empower teachers by enabling them to attend evening classes and complete their secondary education.<\/p>\n<p>The Accelerated Secondary Education Programme (ASEP) is being implemented by Windle Trust with funding from the World Bank in partnership with the Ministry of General Education and Instruction.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, the Windle Trust began distributing textbooks for both arts and science subjects to teachers studying at learning centres across the state&#8217;s counties.<\/p>\n<p>The books are intended to complement the lessons delivered by instructors recruited under the program and help participants prepare effectively for their examinations.<\/p>\n<p>John Lual Akol, the head teacher of Malek-Alel Secondary School in Aweil South County, welcomed the arrival of the books.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are very happy that the books have reached us. The Arts section has received subjects such as Citizenship, Christian Religious Education, and Geography, while the Science section has received Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and other subjects,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>He encouraged fellow teachers to remain committed to their studies despite the challenges they have faced over the years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You need to work hard and cooperate with your instructors so that you can achieve the objectives of this program,&#8221; he urged.<\/p>\n<p>Since emerging from years of conflict, South Sudan continues to face challenges such as unemployment and the long-term effects of disrupted education.<\/p>\n<p>Many teachers have struggled to resume their studies after spending years away from the classroom.<\/p>\n<p>While some find the experience demanding, many remain determined to work hard and achieve their educational goals.<\/p>\n<p>Under the ASEP program, teachers are also receiving professional training at designated teacher training institutes across South Sudan&#8217;s ten states.<\/p>\n<p>In Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, participants are attending classes at Maper Teacher Training Institute, where the latest training program commenced in late July.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Hou Akot Hou An international organisation, Windle Trust, has begun distributing textbooks to teachers enrolled in the Accelerated Secondary Education Program (ASEP) across Northern Bahr el Ghazal State.
