The Director of the Medical Commission in Aweil has urged parents to obtain birth notification certificates for their children immediately after birth, saying the documents are essential for securing national identity certificates and preventing disputes over children\u2019s ages.<\/p>\n

Bol Abdalla Chak-Chak, Director of the Medical Commission, which handles the issuance of birth notification documents, said many parents only seek the certificates when they are needed for court cases.<\/p>\n

Speaking to this outlet on Friday, Chak-Chak said early registration would make the process easier and help families avoid problems caused by inaccurate or estimated dates of birth.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome people always abstain from coming to us to acquire the notification forms. This shows that people are reluctant, and they need to be made aware of the importance of these documents because one cannot obtain a nationality certificate without a notification or birth certificate,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Chak-Chak said parents sometimes seek birth notification documents only after their daughters become pregnant, particularly when they want to establish that a girl is underage in a legal case.<\/p>\n

He urged parents to register their children at birth rather than waiting until the documents are needed in court.<\/p>\n

\u201cParents appear when their daughters are experiencing pregnancies, so they come and ask us to produce the notification document in order to win their cases as underage girls. These actions are unnecessary. Produce the document for your child early so that we move away from making imaginary dates or guesswork whenever there is a need to establish their real date of birth,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The director also clarified that the Medical Commission does not initiate cases involving underage girls, saying such matters normally pass through several institutions before reaching his office.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople need to take it here that court issues dealing with underage girls begin with the police, which fills Form 8. Then the attorney writes on it, followed by the doctors, and finally it comes to us. We are not the ones who begin the procedure of producing the document straightaway,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Chak-Chak said having birth documents issued early would also help reduce disputes over children\u2019s ages, particularly in legal proceedings where some parents may provide incorrect ages in an attempt to gain legal advantage.<\/p>\n

He called on parents in Aweil to make birth registration a priority and ensure their children have proper documentation from an early age.<\/p>\n

He said accurate birth records would not only make it easier to obtain national identity documents but would also reduce delays, confusion, and disputes when proof of age is required.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
