{"id":46813,"date":"2026-08-11T16:00:42","date_gmt":"2026-08-11T14:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/?p=46813"},"modified":"2026-08-11T16:00:42","modified_gmt":"2026-08-11T14:00:42","slug":"thuri-community-establishes-leadership-to-unite-members-across-two-states","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2026\/08\/11\/thuri-community-establishes-leadership-to-unite-members-across-two-states\/","title":{"rendered":"Thuri Community establishes leadership to unite members across two states"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>By Ngor Deng Matem<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Thuri Community formally established its leadership structure in 2026, bringing together members living in Northern Bahr El Ghazal and Western Bahr El Ghazal states, particularly Aweil Centre and Raja counties, under a unified community leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. David Ayaga Aburko, who was officially elected Community Leader, announced the formation of the leadership structure on Monday, August 10, 2026, through administrative orders outlining the appointments and selections of various community organs.<\/p>\n<p>The leadership structure is intended to strengthen unity among the Thuri people, promote community welfare, preserve cultural identity and heritage, support socio-economic development and contribute to peaceful coexistence with neighbouring communities.<\/p>\n<p>The formation of the leadership marks an effort to create an organised community institution capable of coordinating the interests of Thuri members across the two states while maintaining links between traditional authorities, professionals, youth, women and other sections of the community.<\/p>\n<p>The newly established executive body comprises eight officials who will support the community leader in coordinating administrative affairs and implementing community priorities.<\/p>\n<p>The leadership has also appointed five advisors to provide expertise in key areas: political affairs, culture and heritage, physical infrastructure, development, and mineral exploration, agriculture and climate resilience, and mapping and boundary affairs.<\/p>\n<p>The establishment of the leadership comes at a time when community-based institutions are increasingly important in strengthening social cohesion, preserving cultural identity, and creating platforms through which communities can address common challenges.<\/p>\n<p>The leadership is also expected to strengthen engagement among elders, intellectuals, women, youth, and professionals while promoting the preservation of Thuri history, language, and traditions.<\/p>\n<p>The newly established leadership structure takes effect immediately from August 10, 2026, and remains valid until superseded by subsequent official community enactments.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Ngor Deng Matem The Thuri Community formally established its leadership structure in 2026, bringing together members living in Northern Bahr El Ghazal and Western Bahr El Ghazal states, particularly Aweil Centre and Raja counties, under a unified community leadership.
