concern.

‎One of the displaced residents, Loise Buse, said Mukaya Payam is currently peaceful and called for increased delivery of social services and humanitarian assistance to communities returning home.

‎Buse said residents in Mukaya Centre continue to face shortages of essential services, including schools, health facilities, and markets.

‎“We lack schools, health facilities, and even a market in the centre, which is making life difficult for the people,” Buse said.

‎She appealed to the Lainya County authorities and elected representatives at both the state and national levels to address the concerns of communities in Mukaya Payam.

‎Buse also said some residents feel their area has received limited attention compared with other parts of the county, urging leaders representing Mukaya Payam to raise the community’s concerns with the relevant authorities.

‎An elder, Ezibon Loduwo Lumaya, said limited access to education and vocational training remains a challenge for young people in the area.

‎He said the lack of opportunities has left some youths vulnerable to alcohol abuse and called for increased investment in education, skills training, and other livelihood opportunities.

‎Lumaya also raised concerns about the condition of roads and bridges in the area, saying their rehabilitation would improve access, movement, and the delivery of services to communities.

‎Meanwhile, Mabe Moses, the Yei River County Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC) officer, told partners during an Area Reference Group meeting that Yei is currently hosting more than 4,000 returnees from Morobo and Lainya counties.

‎Moses said some of the people were displaced by conflict, while others are returning to their areas of origin as security conditions improve.

The concerns raised by the returnees highlight the need for coordinated efforts by government and humanitarian partners to support safe and sustainable returns while ensuring that communities have access to basic services and infrastructure.

‎Authorities and humanitarian actors have yet to announce specific plans for the expansion of services in Mukaya
