A woman in labour requires immediate medical care, and any delay can endanger both the mother and the unborn child.

It is heartbreaking that instead of receiving support during such a critical moment, the victims were subjected to fear, violence, and robbery.

The incident highlights the urgent need for the government and security agencies to strengthen security measures, particularly during night hours when many criminals take advantage of darkness to prey on innocent citizens.

Hospitals operate around the clock because emergencies can occur at any time. Patients, pregnant women, children, and other vulnerable individuals should be able to travel freely and safely to health facilities without fear of being attacked.

Security patrols should be increased in residential areas, along major roads, and around health facilities. Law enforcement agencies must also intensify efforts to identify and dismantle gang groups that continue to terrorise communities.

Communities themselves should work closely with security authorities by reporting suspicious activities and supporting crime prevention initiatives.

Access to healthcare is a basic right. No citizen should be forced to choose between risking their life at home or risking an attack while seeking medical treatment.

When insecurity prevents people from accessing hospitals, schools, markets, and other essential services, it undermines public confidence and slows national development.

The government has a responsibility to ensure that citizens are protected at all times, regardless of whether it is day or night.

Security is not only about protecting property; it is about safeguarding lives and ensuring that people can carry out their daily activities without fear.

The attack on the pregnant woman and her sister should serve as a wake-up call. Authorities must take decisive action to strengthen public safety and restore confidence among citizens.

Every mother deserves a safe journey to the hospital, every patient deserves protection while seeking treatment, and every citizen deserves to live in a secure environment. A safer society begins with effective security measures that put the protection of human life first.

God protect South Sudan

Be the Spectator!

The recent incident involving a pregnant woman and her sister on their way to a hospital in Juba is a painful reminder of the insecurity that many ordinary citizens continue to face.
