Police preparations are intensifying across Warrap State as authorities work to strengthen security ahead of South Sudan\u2019s December 2026 elections, with more than 5,000 personnel undergoing training aimed at improving professionalism, discipline, and operational readiness.<\/p>\n

The training is being conducted across the state as the Ministry of Interior and the National Police Service prepare officers for duties before, during, and after the elections.<\/p>\n

Warrap State Police Commissioner James Monday Enoka is overseeing the implementation of the exercises, with authorities seeking to ensure that police personnel are adequately prepared to maintain public order and protect citizens throughout the electoral period.<\/p>\n

In Kuajok, the state capital, nearly 3,000 police personnel are currently undergoing intensive instruction. Similar training programs are taking place across all six counties of Warrap State.<\/p>\n

The exercises are part of wider institutional reforms within the police service and are intended to strengthen the capacity of officers to perform their duties professionally while respecting the rights of citizens.<\/p>\n

Speaking on behalf of Warrap State Governor Bol Wek Agoth, State Minister of Information William Wol Mayom said effective police training would be essential to building public confidence in the electoral process.<\/p>\n

\u201cA professional police service is essential to building public confidence, strengthening the rule of law, and preserving peace across the state,” Mayom said.<\/p>\n

He also praised the recruits for their commitment to the training, stressing the importance of discipline and professionalism as the state prepares for the elections.<\/p>\n

According to state electoral officials, Warrap has more than 800 designated voting centers. Each center is expected to require a dedicated police unit to maintain order, prevent intimidation, and help provide a secure environment for voters.<\/p>\n

The scale of the deployment presents a significant logistical and operational challenge for security authorities, particularly given the number of polling locations spread across the state.<\/p>\n

Officials say the training is therefore intended to prepare personnel not only to respond to security incidents but also to carry out their responsibilities in a manner that supports a peaceful and credible electoral process.<\/p>\n

The trainees come from a wide range of educational backgrounds, including primary and secondary school graduates as well as university degree holders.<\/p>\n

Authorities are using the training to build a more capable and professional police force able to respond effectively to the demands of election security.<\/p>\n

The preparations come as South Sudan moves toward its planned December 2026 elections, which are expected to require extensive coordination among national and state institutions.<\/p>\n

Security forces will play a critical role in ensuring that voters can access polling centers without fear of violence, intimidation, or disruption.<\/p>\n

For Warrap, where hundreds of voting centers are expected to operate simultaneously, authorities say adequate preparation will be essential.<\/p>\n

The training initiative is being implemented under broader reforms spearheaded by the Ministry of Interior, under National Minister Lt. Gen. Aleu Ayieny Aleu, together with the leadership of the National Police Service.<\/p>\n

The reforms are aimed at strengthening institutional capacity and improving the professionalism of South Sudan\u2019s security institutions.<\/p>\n

As training continues, state authorities are expected to focus increasingly on the deployment of personnel, coordination among security agencies, and ensuring that officers understand their responsibilities during the electoral period.<\/p>\n
