{"id":47439,"date":"2026-09-02T15:30:33","date_gmt":"2026-09-02T13:30:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/?p=47439"},"modified":"2026-09-02T15:34:44","modified_gmt":"2026-09-02T13:34:44","slug":"ces-govt-launches-war-against-unauthorised-revenue-collectors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2026\/09\/02\/ces-govt-launches-war-against-unauthorised-revenue-collectors\/","title":{"rendered":"CES gov\u2019t launches war against unauthorised revenue collectors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>By Lodu William Odiya<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Central Equatoria State government has directed the security organs to identify unauthorised revenue collectors in the state.<\/p>\n<p>The move comes following the State Security Committee\u2019s 24th meeting of 2026, chaired by Deputy Governor Paulino Lokukudu Obede, representing Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony.<\/p>\n<p>The governor&#8217;s press unit reported that the meeting reviewed reports from the state\u2019s security organs covering the overall security situation, the state\u2019s economic position, and emerging issues affecting citizens\u2019 well-being.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Deputy Governor raised concern about alleged malpractices by self-deployed revenue collectors,&#8221; the statement partly read.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe directed security organs to immediately identify those involved in unauthorised revenue collection and related activities and take prompt action in accordance with the law,&#8221; the statement continued.<\/p>\n<p>The Committee also discussed security and administrative concerns in Kajo-Keji County, including the need to strengthen relations among neighbouring communities.<\/p>\n<p>It resolved to establish a committee to engage communities, promote dialogue, and address concerns peacefully at a grassroots level.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting further examined reports of illegal courts operating in parts of the state and noted that their activities had created administrative and legal overlaps.<\/p>\n<p>The Committee tasked the Attorney General with examining the matter and proposing appropriate legal measures to ensure a lawful resolution.<\/p>\n<p>The Deputy Governor emphasised the importance of collaborative leadership and urged all state institutions and security organs to work within the law to maintain peace, security, and public order across Central Equatoria State.<\/p>\n<p>In June this year, the Central Equatoria State Government was seeking legal intervention over concerns surrounding revenue collections, taxation, and addressing challenges related to revenue administration.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony highlighted concerns over the role of the National Revenue Authority, particularly in Juba, and raised issues surrounding the collection of personal income tax.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Adil said the current tax arrangements are becoming a burden on business operations in the capital and called for solutions to improve revenue administration and support economic activities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Lodu William Odiya The Central Equatoria State government has directed the security organs to identify unauthorised revenue collectors in the state.
