President Salva Kiir Mayardit has called for stronger professionalism, competence, and institutional performance across government.<\/p>\n

According to a statement released by the presidential press unit, Kiir made the remarks on Wednesday during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Dr. William Othwon Awer, in Juba.<\/p>\n

He stressed that public institutions must strengthen their capacity to deliver effective services to the people as the country moves towards the December elections.<\/p>\n

The President said the approaching elections make it increasingly important for government institutions to review their performance, strengthen professional standards, and ensure that qualified personnel and career technocrats are given greater responsibility in areas where they have the necessary expertise.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have taken a decision to review the performances and, qualifications, and skills of constitutional postholders so that we put up stronger delivery of services to the people,\u201d President Kiir said.<\/p>\n

He underscored that institutional reform should not only focus on appointments but also on building professional systems that allow qualified and experienced officials to contribute effectively within their areas of specialisation.<\/p>\n

Kiir further directed the newly appointed Deputy Minister to take up outstanding responsibilities within the Ministry and build on the work of his predecessor, emphasising the need for renewed energy and effective performance in the institution.<\/p>\n

The President urged Dr. Othwon and other government officials to work collectively, uphold their responsibilities, and place the national interest and service to citizens at the center of their work.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s continue working together to serve our nation and the people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs reaffirmed the Ministry\u2019s commitment to supporting the President\u2019s reform agenda, assuring him that the Ministry would work to strengthen legal services and advance meaningful institutional reforms.<\/p>\n

The minister said that, as the head of the institution, he would work closely with the newly appointed deputy minister and other officials to ensure that the ministry delivers its responsibilities effectively and contributes to the country\u2019s broader reform and nation-building efforts.<\/p>\n

Speaking on behalf of the newly appointed Deputy Minister and his family, Dr. Othwon thanked President Kiir for the confidence and trust placed in him.<\/p>\n

He pledged to take up his responsibilities with commitment and to continue the work of strengthening the ministry and delivering on its mandate.<\/p>\n

The swearing-in comes as the government continues efforts to strengthen public institutions, improve professionalism, and enhance service delivery, with particular attention to ensuring that government structures are adequately prepared to serve the people and support the country\u2019s transition towards elections.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
