{"id":47502,"date":"2026-09-03T15:16:28","date_gmt":"2026-09-03T13:16:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/?p=47502"},"modified":"2026-09-03T15:16:28","modified_gmt":"2026-09-03T13:16:28","slug":"city-council-ssff-agree-to-protect-regulate-buluk-playground-activities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2026\/09\/03\/city-council-ssff-agree-to-protect-regulate-buluk-playground-activities\/","title":{"rendered":"City Council, SSFF agree to protect regulate Buluk playground activities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>By Lodu William Odiya<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Juba City Council and key stakeholders have agreed on a series of measures to regulate activities at Buluk Playground following concerns raised by the administration of Buluk School regarding disruption of classes, sanitation challenges, and the health and safety of students.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement by the Juba City Council on Wednesday, the resolutions were reached during a meeting chaired by His Worship Stephen Lomude Martin, Deputy Mayor for Environment and Sanitation.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting was attended by Mr. Francis Amin Michael, President of the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA), representatives of the Central Equatoria State Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Sports, Buluk Schools administration, and Buluk Quarter Council.<\/p>\n<p>The stakeholders resolved that football matches shall not be conducted at Buluk Playground during school hours.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTraining sessions may continue provided they do not involve large crowds, loudspeakers, or activities that disrupt learning,&#8221; the statement partly read.<\/p>\n<p>The emphasized that community football tournaments at the playground shall be discontinued due to their contribution to overcrowding, sanitation challenges, and disturbances around the schools.<\/p>\n<p>Washroom facilities facing the school shall be relocated toward the roadside, while the SSFA will provide appropriate soak pits and designated urination facilities to improve sanitation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe SSFA will engage the relevant Central Equatoria State Ministries of Education and Youth, Culture, and Sports on the construction of a concrete boundary fence to enhance the safety, privacy, and learning environment of students,&#8221; the statement added.<\/p>\n<p>According to their resolution, all businesses operating within Buluk Playground and SSFA premises must be properly licensed and regulated, with particular attention to activities and items that may pose safety risks during crowded sporting events.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting also emphasised the need for continued coordination among the city council, SSFA, state ministries, schools, and the local community to ensure proper management and responsible use of the playground.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Mayor Lomude stressed that the measures are intended to balance the importance of sports with the protection of students\u2019 education, dignity, health, and safety.<\/p>\n<p>The SSFA committed to complying with the agreed resolutions, while all stakeholders pledged to maintain regular engagement to monitor implementation and promote a safe, orderly, and responsible environment around Buluk Playground.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Lodu William Odiya Juba City Council and key stakeholders have agreed on a series of measures to regulate activities at Buluk Playground following concerns raised by the administration of Buluk School regarding disruption of classes, sanitation challenges, and the health and safety of students.
