{"id":47684,"date":"2026-09-09T15:08:52","date_gmt":"2026-09-09T13:08:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/?p=47684"},"modified":"2026-09-09T15:08:52","modified_gmt":"2026-09-09T13:08:52","slug":"over-20-civil-society-and-security-officials-trained-in-yei","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2026\/09\/09\/over-20-civil-society-and-security-officials-trained-in-yei\/","title":{"rendered":"Over 20 Civil Society and security officials trained in Yei"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>By James Innocent<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u200eMore than 20 representatives from civil society organisations, security institutions, media houses, and other stakeholders have received training in Yei River County on cybercrime, the Computer Misuse Act 2026, and electoral preparedness.<\/p>\n<p>\u200eThe training was organised by the Union of Journalists of South Sudan (UJOSS), Central Equatoria State Branch, as part of efforts to strengthen understanding of cyber-related offenses, legal responsibilities, and the role of different stakeholders in promoting a peaceful and credible electoral process.<\/p>\n<p>\u200eBuga Alex, Coordinator of UJOSS Central Equatoria State Branch, said the training focused on improving participants\u2019 understanding of the Cybercrime and Computer Misuse Act 2026, as well as preparations for the electoral period.<\/p>\n<p>\u200e\u200eHe said the session also addressed responsible use of digital platforms, protection of personal information, and the responsibilities of citizens and institutions in preventing cybercrime.<\/p>\n<p>\u200eParticipants included journalists from media houses in Yei, civil society representatives, security personnel, and other stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>\u200eArchangelo Modi, Chairman of Civil Society Organisations in Yei, urged civil society groups and security institutions to maintain neutrality and work together throughout the electoral process.<\/p>\n<p>\u200eModi also highlighted the role of the media in informing the public and holding authorities accountable.
