The Central Equatoria State (CES) Minister of Trade and Industry, Mawa A. Moses, ordered leaders of the State Chamber of Commerce and Juba City to cease the dispute.<\/p>\n

The minister gave both chambers three months to resolve their dispute, warning that failure could lead to suspension of leaders.<\/p>\n

Mawa issued the warning Tuesday after a committee established to investigate the disagreement between the two chambers presented its findings and recommendations to the ministry.<\/p>\n

The minister said the recommendations must be implemented through cooperation between the two chambers, stressing that continued disagreement would not be tolerated.<\/p>\n

He warned that if the current leaders failed to resolve the dispute within the stipulated period, they could be suspended to pave the way for new elections.<\/p>\n

\u201cBoth the State Chamber of Commerce and the Juba City Council Chamber of Commerce should work together with the committee to resolve the misunderstanding,\u201d Mawa said.<\/p>\n

He urged the leaders to put their differences aside and concentrate on their responsibilities, particularly promoting the interests and welfare of traders.<\/p>\n

Mawa also commended the committee for its work and commitment to finding a solution to the dispute, saying cooperation between the two chambers was important for the business community.<\/p>\n

Emmanuel Candiga, Director General in the State Ministry of Trade and Industry and head of the committee, said the team had completed its investigation and submitted recommendations aimed at resolving the conflict.<\/p>\n

Candiga said the committee recommended that the State Chamber of Commerce and the Juba City Council Chamber of Commerce work together in a friendly manner and avoid interference from the National Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n

He said the committee had also recommended that disputes involving the chambers should not be taken to court but should instead be resolved through the constitution and established procedures of the chambers.<\/p>\n

Another recommendation concerns taxation, with the committee calling for any form of tax imposed on traders to be reviewed by the State Minister of Trade and Industry.<\/p>\n

According to Candiga, the committee has given the two chambers three months to implement the recommendations and resolve their differences.<\/p>\n

He warned that failure to resolve within the three months could lead to the suspension of the current leaders of both chambers and the organisation of fresh elections.<\/p>\n

The dispute between the two chambers has raised concerns among traders, who rely on the organisations to represent their interests and engage government authorities on issues affecting businesses.<\/p>\n

The minister\u2019s directive is therefore aimed at restoring cooperation between the two bodies and ensuring that their disagreements do not interfere with their responsibilities to the business community.<\/p>\n

Jennifer Yabu Lasuba, acting mayor of Juba City Council, also called on leaders of the Juba City Chamber of Commerce and the state chamber of commerce to put their personal interests aside and work for the benefit of traders.<\/p>\n

Lasuba urged the chamber leaders to prioritise the interests of the business community and avoid actions that could further deepen divisions.<\/p>\n

She also called on organised forces to distance themselves from interference and what she described as random involvement in the activities of the Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n

With the three-month deadline now set, the two chambers are expected to work with the committee to implement the recommendations and settle their differences.<\/p>\n

Failure to do so could trigger government action against the current leadership and open the way for new elections.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
