Preparations for voter registration are gaining momentum in Jonglei State following the arrival of electoral materials in Bor ahead of South Sudan\u2019s upcoming elections.<\/p>\n

The materials were handed over by the National Elections Commission (NEC) to the Jonglei State High Elections Committee as the state prepares for the registration of eligible voters.<\/p>\n

The delivery includes a range of materials expected to support the registration exercise and public awareness activities. Among the items are 1,300 notebooks, 1,000 T-shirts, 48 executive and high-quality shirts, 350 caps, 1,100 pens, and 150 reflectors.<\/p>\n

The consignment also includes equipment intended to support activities linked to the electoral process. These items include a generator, projection screen, Epson multimedia projector, phone megaphones, a rechargeable speaker, and batteries.<\/p>\n

The arrival of the materials comes as the Jonglei State High Elections Committee steps up preparations for the voter registration exercise.<\/p>\n

Tuor Majok Guech, chairperson of the Jonglei State High Elections Committee, said preparations have already been undertaken to assess the areas where voter registration will take place.<\/p>\n

According to Tuor, members of the state committee have visited and assessed registration centres across Jonglei State as part of preparations for the exercise.<\/p>\n

He said the committee is ready to provide the public with information about the registration centres and other arrangements once the NEC announces the official date for voter registration.<\/p>\n

The state committee is currently waiting for the National Elections Commission to make the registration schedule public before releasing detailed information to residents.<\/p>\n

Tuor called on the people of Jonglei State to begin preparing for the registration exercise and urged eligible citizens to participate when the process begins.<\/p>\n

\u201cI urge the population in Jonglei State to prepare and turn up in big numbers for registration to get a chance to vote for their leaders of choice,\u201d Tuor said.<\/p>\n

The call comes as authorities seek to encourage public participation in the electoral process and ensure that eligible residents have an opportunity to register ahead of the elections.<\/p>\n

The High Elections Committee is expected to play a key role in coordinating the registration process within Jonglei State once the NEC provides the official timetable.<\/p>\n

The committee\u2019s assessment of registration centres is intended to help determine the locations where residents will be able to register and to prepare the necessary arrangements before the exercise begins.<\/p>\n

The delivery of electoral materials also provides the state committee with supplies and equipment needed to support its preparations, including communication and public information activities.<\/p>\n

However, officials have not yet provided a specific date for the beginning of voter registration in Jonglei State.<\/p>\n

The date remains dependent on an official announcement from the National Elections Commission.<\/p>\n

Residents are therefore being encouraged to remain attentive to announcements from the NEC and the Jonglei State High Elections Committee for information about registration dates, locations, and requirements.<\/p>\n

The voter registration exercise is expected to be an important stage in preparations for the elections, allowing eligible citizens to register and participate in choosing their leaders.<\/p>\n

For the Jonglei State High Elections Committee, the immediate priority is to finalise preparations, including registration centre arrangements, before the official launch of the exercise.<\/p>\n

With the electoral materials now in Bor, attention is turning to the NEC\u2019s announcement of the registration date, which will allow the state committee to move into the next phase of its preparations.<\/p>\n
