{"id":48117,"date":"2026-09-22T16:13:35","date_gmt":"2026-09-22T14:13:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/?p=48117"},"modified":"2026-09-22T16:18:40","modified_gmt":"2026-09-22T14:18:40","slug":"insurance-fund-nsif-threatens-employers-with-penalties-over-failure-to-comply","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2026\/09\/22\/insurance-fund-nsif-threatens-employers-with-penalties-over-failure-to-comply\/","title":{"rendered":"Insurance Fund: NSIF threatens employers with penalties over failure to comply"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>By Louis Loku<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The National Social Insurance Fund (NSIF) is set to begin registering employers and employees covered under the social insurance scheme starting October 1, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The registration follows the implementation of Public Circular No. 05\/2026 issued by the Ministry of Labour, according to NSIF Managing Director Reech Ring Bol.<\/p>\n<p>The directive covers private-sector employers and workers, as well as South Sudanese employees working with United Nations agencies, diplomatic missions, and non-governmental organisations.<\/p>\n<p>NSIF says contributors will be given three months to complete their registration at the Fund\u2019s office before penalties for late registration take effect under the National Social Insurance Fund Act, 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The Fund has also instructed registered employers and employees to begin remitting the required social insurance contributions after completing registration.<\/p>\n<p>Employers have further been directed to pay all outstanding contributions withheld from employees since April 24, 2026, through designated NSIF bank accounts.<\/p>\n<p>The officials said failure to remit contributions on time, or failure to remit them altogether, will attract penalties in line with the law.<\/p>\n<p>NSIF said further information on the registration process, payment procedures, and designated bank accounts can be obtained from its office on the sixth floor of the Flora Building along Airport Road, opposite Stanbic Bank in Thongpiny, Juba.<\/p>\n<p>The officials said the implementation of the Ministry of Labour\u2019s Public Circular No. 05\/2026 takes effect on September 30, 2026.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Louis Loku The National Social Insurance Fund (NSIF) is set to begin registering employers and employees covered under the social insurance scheme starting October 1, 2026.
