Former Deputy Governor of Central Equatoria State Paulino Lukudu Obede has called on political parties in the state to stop seeking or receiving government funds from the Ministry of Finance to finance the party.<\/p>\n

Speaking ahead of the upcoming elections, Lukudu argued that political parties and government institutions must maintain a clear distinction, stressing that public funds belong to citizens and should be directed toward essential public services.<\/p>\n

He said his political party had never written to the Ministry of Finance requesting government funds for party activities, adding that public resources should not be diverted to support political organisations.<\/p>\n

Lukudu urged political parties to distinguish between their roles as political organisations and the responsibilities of government.<\/p>\n

According to the former deputy governor, government resources should instead be used to improve essential services, including the provision of clean water, construction and improvement of hospitals and schools, and other public infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Lukudu acknowledged that his position could be unpopular among political actors but maintained that he was raising what he considers an important issue of public accountability.<\/p>\n

Following Lukudu’s remarks, Edir Omunu Stephen expressed support for the former deputy governor, describing him as one of the most honest leaders he has encountered in South Sudan.<\/p>\n

Stephen also publicly stated his intention to vote for Lukudu and General Riiny Tueny of Lakes State in the elections.<\/p>\n

His comments represent his personal political preference and should not be taken as an independent assessment of Lukudu’s record or as an indication of broader voter sentiment.<\/p>\n

Lukudu’s remarks come as political parties and candidates prepare for the electoral period, with questions surrounding the management, allocation, and use of public resources expected to remain part of the wider political debate.<\/p>\n
