Director General of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), Dr. Augustino Ting Mayai, has urged participants who completed a Power BI Data Analysis Training to apply and share the skills acquired to strengthen data-driven decision-making in South Sudan.<\/p>\n

Dr. Ting made the remarks during the conclusion of the Power BI Data Analysis Training, where he emphasised the importance of building sustainable national capacity in data analysis and management.<\/p>\n

He said training programs should not only equip participants with technical knowledge but also create a system where the acquired skills are shared and applied beyond the classroom.<\/p>\n

\u201cCapacity building is sustainable only when it multiplies. You leave this program not only with new technical skills but also with a responsibility to apply and share what you have learned,\u201d Dr. Ting Mayai said.<\/p>\n

He stressed that South Sudan needs to develop a strong national data system capable of turning information into useful evidence for planning and decision-making.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe aim to build a national system in which data is not merely collected and stored but routinely analysed, visualised, communicated, and converted into evidence that informs decisions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Power BI training focused on strengthening participants\u2019 ability to work with data through analysis, visualisation and presentation. Such skills can support institutions in identifying trends, monitoring programs, and communicating findings to decision-makers.<\/p>\n

Ting encouraged the trainees to use the knowledge gained in their respective institutions and workplaces. He also called on them to share their expertise with colleagues and other professionals to expand the country\u2019s capacity in data management.<\/p>\n

The emphasis on data analysis comes as institutions increasingly rely on accurate and timely information to design policies, allocate resources, and monitor development programs.<\/p>\n

Participants were encouraged to move beyond collecting large amounts of information and focus on making data useful and accessible to those responsible for making decisions.<\/p>\n

Dr. Ting said the long-term objective should be to establish a culture in which data becomes a routine part of institutional planning and public decision-making.<\/p>\n

The completion of the training therefore marks not only the end of a capacity-building exercise but also the beginning of a responsibility for participants to apply their newly acquired skills.<\/p>\n

By multiplying the knowledge gained through the program, trainees can contribute to strengthening national expertise and ensuring that data collected across institutions is transformed into meaningful evidence for better planning and informed decisions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
