{"id":48405,"date":"2026-10-01T16:12:18","date_gmt":"2026-10-01T14:12:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/?p=48405"},"modified":"2026-10-01T16:12:36","modified_gmt":"2026-10-01T14:12:36","slug":"governor-jadalla-calls-for-partners-support-to-preserve-south-sudans-cultural-heritage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2026\/10\/01\/governor-jadalla-calls-for-partners-support-to-preserve-south-sudans-cultural-heritage\/","title":{"rendered":"Governor Jadalla calls for partners\u2019 support to preserve South Sudan\u2019s cultural heritage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>By Sabri Dibaco <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Caretaker Governor of Central Equatoria State, Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani, has called for stronger cooperation between government institutions and development partners to support the preservation of South Sudan\u2019s cultural heritage and promote tourism.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Jadalla made the call on Wednesday during a meeting with Caretaker Undersecretary for Culture, Museums, and National Heritage, Julia Amon Mon Wuntok, at the State Secretariat in Juba.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting focused on plans to preserve the country\u2019s historical and cultural heritage, develop tourism, and establish facilities that can showcase South Sudan\u2019s diverse cultural identity.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Jadalla stressed the need to engage partners in supporting the development of a national museum, saying such cooperation would help turn government plans into practical achievements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to engage partners to support the development of the national museum, while emphasising that South Sudan\u2019s cultural diversity is a source of national pride,&#8221; the statement reads.<\/p>\n<p>He also called for closer coordination among institutions responsible for culture, heritage, and tourism, saying joint efforts are necessary to preserve the country\u2019s history for future generations.<\/p>\n<p>The governor further proposed a joint meeting with his counterparts to advance discussions on the planned initiatives and encouraged stakeholders to work together to ensure the projects produce lasting results.<\/p>\n<p>The Caretaker Undersecretary, Julia Amon Mon Wuntok, briefed the Governor on several priorities, including the proposed launch of Boma and Badingilo national parks as potential tourist destinations, construction of a national museum, and provision of adequate space for the national archives.<\/p>\n<p>She also informed the governor about a proposed national cultural festival in December and requested support in identifying a suitable venue.<\/p>\n<p>South Sudan has a wide range of cultural and natural heritage sites, but efforts to preserve and promote them face challenges including limited infrastructure, funding, and institutional capacity.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed national museum is expected to provide space for preserving historical artefacts and documenting the country\u2019s cultural heritage.
