The governors agreed to work jointly to minimise such checkpoints, which can affect the movement of people and goods and contribute to tensions between communities.<\/p>\n<p>The two leaders also discussed the effects of climate change, particularly its impact on livestock movement and relations between pastoral and farming communities.<\/p>\n<p>According to the statement from the governor&#8217;s office, the governors discussed how to take \u201cimmediate remedial actions to prevent the movement of cattle from one area to the other.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They also agreed to share relevant information as part of efforts to strengthen security measures and promote cooperation between their respective administrations.<\/p>\n<p>The two governors reaffirmed their commitment to \u201cupholding peace and security as the country gears for elections,\u201d the statement partly reads.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting comes as South Sudan prepares for planned elections, with peace and security remaining important issues for state and national authorities.<\/p>\n<p>Central Equatoria and Lakes are among the states where movement of people and livestock can create cross-border disputes, particularly during periods of environmental stress.
