{"id":48722,"date":"2026-10-09T15:40:04","date_gmt":"2026-10-09T13:40:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/?p=48722"},"modified":"2026-10-09T15:40:04","modified_gmt":"2026-10-09T13:40:04","slug":"lakes-stakeholders-trained-on-quick-impact-projects-in-rumbek","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2026\/10\/09\/lakes-stakeholders-trained-on-quick-impact-projects-in-rumbek\/","title":{"rendered":"Lakes stakeholders trained on Quick Impact Projects in Rumbek"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Yang Ater Yang<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At least 60 government officials, implementing partners, civil society representatives, women\u2019s groups, and youth representatives have been trained on the implementation of Quick Impact Projects (QIPs) in Rumbek, Lakes State.<\/p>\n<p>The two-day training was organised by the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) to strengthen stakeholders\u2019 understanding of QIP procedures, implementation, accountability, ownership, and sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>Agum Joseph Kuc, Chairperson of the Lakes State Women\u2019s General Association, welcomed the training, saying it had provided participants with a better understanding of how to apply for and implement Quick Impact Projects.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have got information. I now know how people apply for this project called the Quick Impact Project. It has been here since we had UNMISS, but we had not understood it the way we understand it now. Otherwise, we would have implemented a lot of it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>She added that women in the state would benefit from the knowledge gained and promised to share the information with other women.<\/p>\n<p>Peter Gum Ater, Director General in the Ministry of Social Development and Child Welfare, said the training was different from previous QIP engagements because it provided participants with a detailed understanding of the project\u2019s procedures and requirements.<\/p>\n<p>He said the knowledge acquired would enable participants to prepare proposals and clearly understand their responsibilities during implementation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven within one month, with all this knowledge and understanding, you will be able to write your proposal,\u201d Gum said.<\/p>\n<p>He also acknowledged challenges encountered during previous QIP implementation and said UNMISS, implementing partners, and government authorities had learned from those experiences.<\/p>\n<p>Hakim Cipuounyuc Awur, Executive Director of the Disabled Association for Rehabilitation and Development (DARD), described the workshop as important because it brought together government institutions, civil society organisations and implementing partners.<\/p>\n<p>He said participants had agreed to establish a locally owned oversight structure to monitor QIP implementation in the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs civil society organisations as well as implementing partners, we are very proud of this particular workshop. Since we have been in partnership with UNMISS, we have never heard of such a workshop that brings together all these diverse institutions and stakeholders,\u201d Awur said.<\/p>\n<p>He pledged the commitment of civil society and implementing partners to support UNMISS&#8217;s peacebuilding mandate and projects aimed at addressing service delivery gaps in communities.<\/p>\n<p>Abednego Digur Makuac, Executive Director of Wulu County, thanked UNMISS and the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission for organising the training.<\/p>\n<p>He said the workshop brought together technical officials from state and county levels, enabling participants to better understand their respective roles in projects implemented in their communities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEach and every one now knows his or her role in any project that is going to be implemented in the community or in the county,\u201d Makuac said.<\/p>\n<p>Henry Charles Sambai, from the Protection, Transition, and Reintegration office of UNMISS in Wau, said Quick Impact Projects are among the tools used by the mission to deliver peace dividends to communities across Lakes State and South Sudan.<\/p>\n<p>He said the training emphasised government ownership, sustainability, respect, and accountability among stakeholders involved in QIP implementation.<\/p>\n<p>Charles also welcomed the establishment of an oversight committee chaired by the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission and involving relevant government ministries.<\/p>\n<p>He said UNMISS was preparing to hand over several completed projects in Rumbek and would invite state authorities and members of the oversight committee to witness the handover.<\/p>\n<p>Charles commended participants for their active engagement, saying their questions, feedback, and evaluations would help improve future QIP implementation.<\/p>\n<p>The training brought together government officials, county technical directors, civil society organisations, youth representatives, faith-based organisations and other stakeholders involved in Quick Impact Projects.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Yang Ater Yang At least 60 government officials, implementing partners, civil society representatives, women\u2019s groups, and youth representatives have been trained on the implementation of Quick Impact Projects (QIPs) in Rumbek, Lakes State.
