The Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring and Verification Mechanism (CTSAMVM) has urged all signatories to South Sudan\u2019s peace agreement to respect the Permanent Ceasefire, protect civilians and refrain from offensive or retaliatory actions.<\/p>\n

During the CTSAMVM technical committee meeting in Juba yesterday, Chairperson Maj. Gen. Dr. Hailu Endashaw Atomsa called on all signatory parties to translate their commitments into concrete actions to maintain peace.<\/p>\n

\u201cI urge all Signatory Parties to translate their commitments into concrete action, uphold the Permanent Ceasefire and accelerate the implementation of Chapter II of the R-ARCSS,” he said.<\/p>\n

The chairperson emphasised the need for strict compliance with the Transitional Security Arrangements, warning against actions that could undermine the ceasefire and threaten the safety of civilians.<\/p>\n

CTSAMVM recommended that all parties reaffirm their commitment to the permanent ceasefire and avoid offensive, provocative or retaliatory activities that could escalate tensions and destabilise communities.<\/p>\n

The mechanism also stressed the importance of civilian protection, urging the signatories to prevent attacks on civilians and guarantee safe movement along major roads and within communities.<\/p>\n

The call comes amid continuing concerns over insecurity in parts of the country, where violence and restrictions on movement can expose civilians to danger and disrupt their daily activities.<\/p>\n

CTSAMVM further urged the parties to facilitate humanitarian access by working with relevant authorities to ensure that assistance reaches affected families safely and without unnecessary obstruction.<\/p>\n

The chairperson also called for appropriate accountability, in accordance with applicable laws and the R-ARCSS, for individuals found responsible for verified violations.<\/p>\n

He underscored that accountability is necessary to reinforce compliance with the peace agreement and discourage further violations.<\/p>\n

CTSAMVM reaffirmed its commitment to carrying out its mandate independently, impartially and neutrally as it monitors and verifies compliance with the ceasefire and transitional security arrangements.<\/p>\n

The chairperson urged all signatories to demonstrate their commitment to peace through practical measures rather than statements alone.<\/p>\n

He called on the parties to uphold the permanent ceasefire and accelerate the implementation of Chapter II of the R-ARCSS, which provides for transitional security arrangements intended to support stability and the broader peace process.<\/p>\n

The appeal highlights the responsibility of all parties to protect civilians, maintain freedom of movement and ensure that humanitarian organisations can deliver assistance to vulnerable populations.<\/p>\n

Respect for the ceasefire and implementation of the agreed security arrangements remain essential to building confidence among the signatories and creating conditions for lasting peace in South Sudan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
