The leader of the United South Sudan Party (USSP), Paulino Lukudu Obede, says his party is ready for the planned December 2026 general elections.<\/p>\n

The party has announced plans to field candidates for all elective positions, including the presidency, state governorships, national and state legislative assemblies, and county commissioners.<\/p>\n

The announcement was made during General Meeting No. 001\/2026 held at the party\u2019s headquarters in Juba on Saturday, October 24, 2026.<\/p>\n

Speaking after the meeting, USSP Secretary for Information Stephen Kiri Gwolo said the party leader briefed members on the party\u2019s participation in the Inter-Party Political Dialogue and reaffirmed its commitment to free, fair and credible elections.<\/p>\n

Gwolo said the party had formally declared its readiness to participate in the forthcoming elections and would present candidates across all elective offices.<\/p>\n

He added that nomination forms for prospective candidates would be issued beginning next week, paving the way for interested party members to prepare for the electoral process.<\/p>\n

According to Gwolo, the meeting also reaffirmed the party\u2019s commitment to democratic governance, inclusive political dialogue and electoral integrity.<\/p>\n

The announcement comes as political parties in South Sudan prepare for the planned December 2026 elections amid ongoing efforts to advance political dialogue and electoral preparations.<\/p>\n

The USSP\u2019s declaration signals its intention to compete for political leadership at both national and subnational levels.<\/p>\n
