{"id":5354,"date":"2022-04-30T05:04:27","date_gmt":"2022-04-30T05:04:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/onecitizendaily.com\/?p=5354"},"modified":"2022-04-30T05:04:30","modified_gmt":"2022-04-30T05:04:30","slug":"military-court-adjourned-amidst-iftar-festival-official","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2022\/04\/30\/military-court-adjourned-amidst-iftar-festival-official\/","title":{"rendered":"Military Court Adjourned Amidst Iftar Festival, Official"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By Adia Jildo<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The trial of pending court cases for armed forces involved in civil-military offenses including the murder case in Yei River County of Central Equatoria State have been adjourned, the civil military court official said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Military personnel who got involved in atrocities in Yei were to be tried by the magistrate of general mobile court martial as requested earlier in April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The head of civil military relation(s) and public information, Micheal Machar said the trial of the armed forces in Yei County was suspended as people celebrate Eid al Fitr.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere is a general preparation going on which we are anticipating an advance team from Juba to Yei to pave ways for the Military general court martial. \u201cNext week we shall have an advance team in Yei to prepare all the cases making sure all the files are in place and to prepare complainers,\u201d the official said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr. Machar said that the magistrate will take months to finish cases as, \u201cthere is a general court martial which the number is going to be bigger than 16 people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThey wanted to hear\/try all the cases that are in Yei. There are cases pending in the prison. These cases cannot be tried by district military court martial,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said the jurisdictions to rule murder cases were of the military court martial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The advance team from Juba who were to travel in preparation of the general mobile court martial on Thursday however adjourned their journey due to the Eid al Fitr celebration and rescheduled it to the 5<sup>th<\/sup> May 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said the preparation will allow complainers to be ready and present during the court hearing as well as their files.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Micheal called on the public to be patient as they have postponed the date for the journey of the advance team for justice to be brought.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Adia Jildo The trial of pending court cases for armed forces involved in civil-military offenses including the murder case in Yei River County of Central Equatoria State have been adjourned, the civil military court official said.
