{"id":7170,"date":"2022-07-02T04:25:00","date_gmt":"2022-07-02T04:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/onecitizendaily.com\/?p=7170"},"modified":"2022-07-01T19:44:23","modified_gmt":"2022-07-01T19:44:23","slug":"govt-says-no-public-occasion-to-mark-independence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/index.php\/2022\/07\/02\/govt-says-no-public-occasion-to-mark-independence\/","title":{"rendered":"Gov\u2019t says no public occasion to mark independence"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/onecitizendaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Government.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7171\" width=\"841\" height=\"473\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Government.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.onecitizendaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Government-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 841px) 100vw, 841px\" \/><figcaption>South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit\/Courtesy photo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>By Tereza Jeremiah Chuei<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Minister of Information and Government\u2019s Spokesperson, Michael Makuei Lueth disclosed to the media on Friday that the government will not be celebrating the Country\u2019s 11<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary due to limited resources the government has at hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However President Salva Kiir Mayardit will be expected to deliver his nation address on the anniversary eve that\u2019s the evening of 8<sup>th<\/sup> July2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;He added that the rest of the States including the three administrative Areas have been Authorized to celebrate in their Local Areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking to the Media after the council of Ministers Meeting on Friday, Makuei explained that the limited resources that the government has currently will rather be used for the graduation of unified forces and the implementation of the Agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe will have to make used of the little resources we have on graduating the forces that have been in the training centers for very long,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSo instate of us celebrating, the Cabinet has decided that this year celebration will be limited to President Salva Kiir, he will see how best he will address the nation on the 8<sup>th<\/sup> of July, but the States including the three Administrative Areas have been authorized to Celebrate at their Local Areas,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, he revealed that the celebration budget approval was cancel after the Minister of Cabinet Affairs had requested the Cabinet to approve the Country to celebrate the 11<sup>th <\/sup>Anniversary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Minister of Cabinet Affairs Dr. Martin Elia has requested the cabinet to approve the celebration, but after thorough deliberation, the Cabinet found that yes there is a need for us to celebrate, but the celebration will be of a different type,\u201d he mention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere are so many issues at hand, that we need to address and making a big celebration means a lot of expenses, but at the present we don\u2019t have funds, this is what have been agreed upon and was passed,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>South Sudan had not celebrated most of its independence Anniversaries as the country plunged into a political crisis barely two years when it attained it independence from Republic of Sudan in July 2o1.
