President Salva Kiir Mayardit has promised his government\u2019s willingness to put serious consideration to ensure that the civil servants received payments equivalent to their work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Kiir\u2019s statement comes in the wake of igniting civil disobedience especially in Jonglei state where civil servants had taken to the streets demanding for the payment of their five months\u2019 salary arrears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kiir was speaking during the inauguration of the Dr. John Garang Memorial University of Science and Technology in Bor town yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The President visited Jonglei State\u2019s capital Bor yesterday (Thursday) to inaugurate a new lecture block at Dr. John Garang Memorial University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have now to put under serious consideration to ensure that you receive payment equal to your work\u201d President Kiir said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI would like to thank the Civil servants here in Jonglei and across the country for their dedication and patience, but economic difficulties have made things hard\u201d the President underlined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Kiir attested that the government was facing challenges due to economic difficulties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDifficulties have made it difficult for your government to pay you regularly, this is a challenge\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The President also emphasized on the need for peace, citing that if the people maintained peace then there will be no problem affecting the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is what I want to tell you, maintain peace, if you keep peace among yourselves and your neighbours there will be no problem affecting us as the government\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe want the government to be free to listen to problems of citizens, what we want is peace in our country and that we don\u2019t accept anybody to come among you and agitate against any government weather it\u2019s the government of Jonglei State or government of South Sudan\u201d he added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
