Minister reaffirms support for MSF Belgium operation

The Central Equatoria State (CES) Minister of Health has reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting the humanitarian and medical activities of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Belgium in the state.

Addressing the media in her office, CES Minister of Health Joyce Bakwa Agole praised the organization for its continued efforts in delivering critical healthcare services, particularly to vulnerable and conflict-affected communities in the state. 

She noted that MSF has played a vital role in strengthening the state’s health system through emergency response, maternal care, and treatment of infectious diseases.

The minister confirmed the state government’s willingness to facilitate MSF operations, including ensuring security and improving coordination with local health authorities.

She emphasised that partnerships between government and humanitarian organizations remain crucial in addressing the pressing health needs of the population, especially in remote and underserved areas.

MSF Belgium representatives expressed appreciation for the continued cooperation and support from the state government, highlighting the importance of a conducive working environment to effectively reach those in need. 

The representative briefed the minister on the organisation’s activities in Kajo Keji, highlighting the successful construction of a hospital aimed at improving access to quality healthcare services for the local population. 

‎He said MSF Belgium is committed to extending its support to Yei and Morobo County, aiming to strengthen healthcare services across more areas of the state, echoing its commitment to maintaining high-quality medical services and expanding outreach programs where possible.

The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to strengthen collaboration to improve healthcare access and outcomes for communities across Central Equatoria State.
