Officials from Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) have reaffirmed their commitment to supporting essential health services in Yei River County following a courtesy visit to County Commissioner Samuel Henry Malimbo.
During the meeting, Commissioner Malimbo stressed the need for sustained collaboration between local authorities and humanitarian partners, noting that coordinated efforts remain critical to improving service delivery in the county.
He called on MSF and other stakeholders to align their programmes with the county’s five-year strategic development plan initiated under the previous administration to ensure continuity and long-term impact.
Speaking on behalf of the MSF delegation, Hatis Mahamed outlined the organization’s planned interventions, which include the construction of a mortuary facility aimed at improving the management and preservation of human remains.
The delegation also indicated its intention to support the One Stop Centre and address existing gaps within the local health system.
MSF officials further stated that the organization is assessing the possibility of resuming activities in parts of Yei and neighboring Morobo County, contingent on improvements in security and operational conditions.
Commissioner Malimbo welcomed the continued partnership, commending MSF for its role in supporting vulnerable communities across the county.
He also informed the delegation that Radio Miraya, operated under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), is expected to resume operations in Yei after a period of suspension.
The visit reflects ongoing efforts by both government authorities and humanitarian organizations to strengthen service delivery and respond to community needs amid evolving challenges in the region.
