The governor of Eastern Equatoria State, Louis Lobong Lojore, has called for peace, unity, and increased agricultural production as key priorities for development.

The governor made the remarks on Saturday while attending the Buya (Lariim) community’s traditional Ngitamo age-set ceremony.

Lobong’s participation in symbolic rituals, including the slaughtering of a bull, signified his affiliation with the Akurukait age-set of the Toposa tradition.

Governor Lobong urged communities to strengthen efforts toward reconciliation and peaceful coexistence.

He expressed that stability remains essential for development across the state.

The governor also encouraged residents to expand agricultural activities to enhance food security and improve livelihoods.

During the ceremony, members of the Buya (Lariim) community formally requested the establishment of an administrative area, citing that it would improve governance, enhance service delivery, and bring government services closer to the people.

The governor also highlighted the importance of cultural heritage in promoting unity, noting the shared traditions between the Buya Ngitamo and the Toposa Akurukait age-set systems.

He emphasized that such cultural gatherings provide an opportunity for dialogue and strengthening community ties.
