The Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs has dismissed the “Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel leak report,” describing it as a fabricated document circulating on social media.
Speaking at a press conference in Juba on Monday, Abraham Tilar, a member of the Investigation and Prosecution Committee, categorically denied the allegation.
“The Committee maintains no record of the ‘Electronic Diary’ or the specific financial claims referenced in the circulating material. Any narratives, names, or figures presented in the document are entirely external to the committee’s work and hold no factual or legal standing,” he explained.
He said the document is a groundless invention designed specifically to cause unnecessary reputational damage to the cited individuals.
He emphasised that the official findings of the body of the document are never titled “leak reports” and are disseminated exclusively through secure, classified government channels.
“This fraudulent document lacks all requisite institutional markers, including official letterheads, serial numbers, and internal authentication protocols,” he added.
“As a matter of standard procedure, the committee confirms that any document surfacing via anonymous digital channels is, by definition, a forgery lacking any institutional legitimacy,” he stated.
The Investigation and Prosecution Committee characterises the document as a coordinated disinformation campaign.
They noted that there is no overlap between the contents of this forgery and the actual conduct of our mandate.
“It is dismissed in its entirety as a fraudulent attempt to prejudice the legal environment and undermine the principle of the presumption of innocence,” Tilar added.
The committee encourages media houses, digital creators, and the general public to exercise heightened discernment.
“The continued circulation of this forgery serves only to obstruct the genuine pursuit of accountability and causes undue distress to the individuals named therein,” Tilar stated.
“Reliance on, or the further distribution of, falsified state documents can have serious implications for the integrity of our legal system. We urge all citizens to ignore these unauthorised materials and rely exclusively on official government communication channels for verified information,” he added.
