Governor Adil meets SPLM youth league to boost mobilization for SPLA Day

By Sabri Dibaco

The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Cde. Emmanuel Adil Anthony, who also serves as the SPLM State Chairperson, has met with the SPLM Youth League to strengthen mobilisation efforts ahead of the upcoming SPLA Day celebrations on 16th May.

The meeting brought together the SPLM National Youth League Chairperson, Cde. Puok Bol, and the Central Equatoria State Youth League Chairperson, Cde. Emmanuel Terensio. Discussions focused on strategies to ensure a large and vibrant turnout for the historic event.

In a press statement issued by the governor’s office, Adil emphasised the vital role of young people in nation-building, describing them as the backbone and driving force of the country. He urged youth leaders to remain united and intensify grassroots mobilisation across all sectors of society.

“The youth are the pillars of our nation. Their active participation will be key to the success of the 16th May celebration,” Adil said, calling for coordinated efforts to deliver a massive rally in support of the party.

In response, both national and state youth league leaders pledged to jointly spearhead large-scale mobilisation campaigns. The initiative will include close collaboration with SPLM-affiliated clubs within Juba to expand outreach and engagement among young people.

As part of the strategy, the Youth League announced plans to divide Juba into three zones—North, West, and East—to ensure effective coordination of rallies and awareness activities in the lead-up to the celebration.

The mobilisation drive follows a recent one-day training on political mobilisation organised by the Juba County SPLM Secretariat, which was attended by Governor Adil and SPLM Secretary General, Cde. Akol Paul Kordit.

SPLA Day, observed annually on 16th May, marks a significant moment in South Sudan’s history, commemorating the founding of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) and its role in the country’s liberation struggle.

The intensified campaign is expected to build momentum and ensure strong youth participation in this year’s commemoration.
