The leadership of Western Equatoria State (WES) paid a courtesy visit to the First Deputy Speaker of the National Legislature, Right Honourable Ambrose Lomin Pitia, in Juba on Monday.
The delegation was led by His Excellency Badagbu Daniel Rimbasa, Governor of Western Equatoria State and Chairperson of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) in the state.
The primary purpose of the visit was to congratulate the First Deputy Speaker on his leadership role and his continued responsibilities within the National Assembly.
During the meeting, Governor Rimbasa conveyed warm congratulations and emphasised the critical importance of strengthening institutional cooperation between the state government and the national legislature.
He noted that sustained engagement between both levels of leadership is essential for improving coordination and delivering effective services to the citizens.
The Deputy Governor of Western Equatoria State, H.E. Justin Joseph Marona, also expressed his appreciation to the First Deputy Speaker for granting the delegation the opportunity to undertake the courtesy visit.
He stated that the visit reflects the spirit of institutional dialogue and a shared commitment to cooperation.
Following the formation of the new state government under Governor Rimbasa, the deputy governor highlighted that the leadership is firmly resolved to uphold the peace agreement and strengthen collaboration among all stakeholders.
He emphasised their shared responsibility as partners in governance and peace implementation to promote stability, national cohesion, and service delivery.
Progress achieved under the current leadership includes strengthened institutional relations and robust support for key governance instruments aimed at improving the welfare of the people in Western Equatoria State.
“Consultations are currently underway to establish a Party Council in the state, which will bring together chairpersons of all political parties to the peace agreement. This platform is expected to enhance structured dialogue, coordination, and implementation of the peace process,” Justin explained.
The delegation underscored the role of Parliament as the voice of the people, calling for continuous and open engagement between national and state leadership.
In response, First Deputy Speaker Right Honourable Ambrose Lomin Pitia warmly welcomed the delegation, describing the visit as a strong expression of unity and partnership. He reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the leadership of Western Equatoria State to address the needs of the citizens.
Both parties concluded the meeting by agreeing on the vital importance of maintaining strong institutional relations to promote peace, unity, and development in Western Equatoria State and throughout South Sudan.
