Former South Sudan national team midfielder Jimmy Michael Umar has completed a move to Al Wahida FC, marking his return to competitive football after spending a year without a club.
The experienced midfielder, who has previously featured for South Sudan’s national team, joins Al Wahida FC with hopes of reviving his career and contributing his experience to the club ahead of the new football season.
Umara brings a wealth of experience, having played for several notable clubs during his career, including South Sudanese giants Al Merrikh, Atlabara and Villa United FC, and other domestic and regional teams. His performances at both club and international level earned him recognition as one of South Sudan’s experienced midfielders.
The move comes after a difficult period in which the player remained without a club for one year, raising uncertainty about his football future. His signing by Al Wahida FC now offers him an opportunity to regain match fitness and return to top form.
Speaking after completing the transfer, Umar expressed excitement about beginning a new chapter with Al Wahida FC.
“I’m grateful to Al Wahida FC for believing in me. It’s been a challenging year without competitive football, but I have continued working hard to stay fit. I’m ready to give my best, help the team achieve its goals, and enjoy football again,” Jimmy Michael said.
Al Wahida FC welcomed the midfielder, describing him as a valuable addition whose experience will strengthen the squad both on and off the pitch.
Club officials said they are confident Umar’s leadership qualities and knowledge of the game will benefit younger players while adding depth to the team’s midfield.

Jimmy Michael Umar is among the South Sudanese footballers who have represented the national team in regional and international competitions in 2020.
