Central Equatoria State has launched a civic and voter education campaign ahead of the December 22 general election.
In a statement that was released by the CES press unit on Thursday, the initiative was organised by the Central Equatoria State High-Level Elections Committee.
“The campaign seeks to prepare citizens for the upcoming general elections scheduled for 22 December 2026. Governor Adil called on citizens to understand their rights, responsibilities, and roles in the electoral process,” the statement partly read.
The state governor, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, urged all eligible voters to obtain accurate information from the National Elections Commission and to participate freely, peacefully, and responsibly.
He also urged political actors, candidates, supporters and citizens to reject violence, intimidation, hate speech and misinformation, stressing that political differences should not divide communities.
“He further encouraged women, young people, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups to participate fully in the electoral process,” the statement continued.
Adil called upon political, religious, traditional and community leaders to promote peace, tolerance and responsible citizenship throughout the electoral period.
The Governor reaffirmed the commitment of the Central Equatoria State Government to supporting a peaceful, inclusive and credible electoral environment.
He encouraged cooperation among government institutions, electoral authorities, civil society organisations and other stakeholders, while appealing to citizens to verify electoral information through credible sources, reject violence and place the peace, unity and stability of Central Equatoria State above political differences.
