The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, has urged the Equatoria Students’ Association at Starford International University to remain united.
In a statement released yesterday, Adil urged and encouraged them to make education a priority, noticing that academic qualifications will prepare them to compete fairly for future opportunities and take up leadership responsibilities in the country.
“Equatoria Student Association from Starford University, led by its Chairperson, Gabriel Ladu, during a courtesy visit to the office of the Governor of Central Equatoria State to congratulate Governor Adil on his reappointment and discuss the association’s activities and the challenges facing students,” the statement partly read.
Adil called on the association to strengthen cooperation with all Equatorian leaders and establish a common support mechanism to assist students, particularly high-performing students facing financial challenges in pursuing higher education.
He pledged his support to the association and urged the association leadership to involve all Equatorian leaders in collectively investing in the education of young people, particularly by promoting girls’ education, reducing school dropouts and discouraging early marriage.
“Education is not only a personal investment but also a strategic foundation for the political, social, and economic development of South Sudan,” the statement continued.
He encouraged the students to use their education to promote unity, peace, responsible leadership and national development, stressing that the country’s future depends on a generation of educated, disciplined and responsible young leaders.
