The Caretaker Governor of Central Equatoria State, Gen. Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani, has called for stronger cooperation to preserve South Sudan’s cultural heritage and promote tourism.
In a statement released by the CES press unit, the governor made the remarks during a courtesy meeting with Julia Amon Mon Wuntok, Caretaker Undersecretary for Culture, Museums, and National Heritage at the State Secretariat.
Julia congratulated Governor Jadalla on his appointment and briefed him on key priorities of the Ministry, including the proposed launch of Boma and Badingilo national parks to attract tourists.
She also highlighted plans to construct a national museum to preserve historical artefacts and the need to provide adequate space for the national archives.
According to the undersecretary, the ministry is also planning a national cultural festival in December and requested the governor’s support in identifying a suitable venue for the event.
Meanwhile, Governor Jadalla welcomed the initiatives and stressed the importance of engaging development partners to support the construction of the proposed national museum.
He described South Sudan’s cultural diversity as a source of national pride and called for close cooperation among relevant institutions to ensure the preservation of the country’s heritage.
The governor further proposed a joint meeting with his counterparts to advance discussions on the proposed initiatives.
He urged stakeholders to work diligently to turn the plans into tangible achievements and leave a lasting legacy for future generations.
