Juba County orders roadside businesses to vacate road reserve

By Louis Loku

The Caretaker Commissioner of Juba County, Kalisto Lado Foustino, has inspected the ongoing construction of Kapuri Bridge and directed businesses operating along the main road to vacate the road reserve within seven days.

The bridge project is being implemented by the National Ministry of Roads and Bridges in collaboration with the Juba County Authority.

During the inspection, Commissioner Kalisto assured residents of Kapuri that the County Authority will continue monitoring the progress of the project and work with relevant authorities to ensure the bridge is completed as soon as possible.

He said completion of the bridge will improve movement and access for residents, including school children, patients seeking medical services, workers, and other members of the community.

The Commissioner also inspected the highway and surrounding areas, where he raised concerns over activities and businesses operating along the roadside.

He directed those occupying the road reserve to vacate within seven days, saying the move is aimed at improving road safety, maintaining clear access, and reducing obstruction along the highway.

The Juba County Authority said it will continue to monitor compliance with the directive and coordinate with relevant institutions to ensure its implementation.
