Juba County Commissioner Kalisto calls for unity, peace and development

By Lodu William Odiya

The Caretaker Commissioner of Juba County, Kalisto Lado Foustino Nyigilo, has called on communities to promote unity, peace, and development through cultural activities and community initiatives.

According to his office press unit, he made the remarks during his first official visit to Gorom Boma in Rejaf Payam, where he joined residents in celebrating the 3rd Teton Ko Kodisi Cultural Promoters Event.

He commended the people of Gorom Boma for using culture as a platform to promote unity and strengthen community ties.

“Gorom Boma is an example of other areas of our Bari community. Activities that bring unity among us should be supported so that we can develop our Payams and Bomas,” Kalisto said.

The commissioner said his administration would focus on reaching communities across Juba County rather than operating solely from the office.

“I came as a commissioner not to sit in the office, but to move to all the Payams and Bomas of Juba County to work with our people,” he said.

Kalisto also pledged to protect farmers from conflicts involving cattle that destroy crops, saying the county administration would work to address challenges affecting agricultural production.

“I came as a commissioner to protect our farmers from cattle that destroy their crops,” he said.

He further called for an end to tribalism and urged residents to embrace peaceful coexistence and national unity.

“I came as a commissioner to promote peace and end tribalism. I want our people to live together as one people,” Kalisto said.

The Commissioner encouraged communities to strengthen traditional leadership and support chiefs, youth, women, and cultural associations as key partners in promoting peace and development.

He also urged residents to prepare for the upcoming electoral process and ensure that communities remain peaceful during the election period.

“Let us all live in peace and work together to make our country one of the most peaceful countries in the world,” he said.

Kalisto also appreciated 5 Investment National Company, under the leadership of Malish Martin, for supporting the people of Gorom Boma through the renovation of the area’s main road.

He said such contributions from the private sector were important in improving infrastructure and supporting community development.

The Commissioner’s visit comes as Juba County authorities seek to strengthen engagement with communities at the Payam and Boma levels and promote peace, development, and social cohesion.
