Lainya Commissioner elders to identify community priorities

By Ijoo Bosco

The Caretaker Commissioner of Lainya County, Laku Micah Wani, this morning held his first consultative meeting with chiefs and elders from across the county to identify community priorities and discuss key challenges affecting residents.

In his opening remarks, Laku Micah Wani emphasised the importance of engaging traditional leaders in identifying priority areas, determining what needs to be addressed, and avoiding actions that could hinder the effective implementation of his administration’s plans.

He noted that the views, experiences, and recommendations of chiefs and elders are vital in shaping practical interventions that respond to the needs and aspirations of local communities.

During the discussions, participants raised several pressing concerns affecting Lainya County, including poor road connectivity, inadequate supplies of essential medicines to health facilities, and insecurity in some administrative payams, particularly Wujj Payam.

The concerns raised during the meeting are expected to help guide the county administration in setting priorities and developing appropriate responses to the challenges facing local communities.

Laku Micah Wani thanked the chiefs and elders for attending the meeting and sharing valuable insights into the difficulties affecting their respective communities.

He assured participants that their contributions would be carefully reviewed and incorporated into a comprehensive working document to guide his administration’s priorities, plans, and interventions for the development and well-being of Lainya County.

The Caretaker Commissioner reaffirmed his commitment to continued consultation and collaboration with traditional leaders and other stakeholders, emphasising that collective efforts are essential to addressing community concerns, strengthening security, and improving service delivery across the county.
