Women Empowerment group conducts public consultation on draft Anti-GBV bill in Eastern Equatoria

By Ijoo Bosco

Itwak Women Empowerment, in partnership with Norwegian Church Aid, Women Led Network, and the State Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare, is conducting a two-day public consultation on the draft Anti-Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Bill for Eastern Equatoria State.

The consultation brings together key stakeholders, community representatives, and other concerned groups to discuss the proposed legislation, share views, and make recommendations aimed at strengthening the legal framework for preventing and responding to gender-based violence.

The initiative seeks to ensure that the proposed bill provides stronger protection for survivors, promotes access to justice, strengthens accountability for perpetrators, and safeguards the rights and dignity of women, girls, and other vulnerable groups.

Participants are expected to contribute their perspectives and recommendations to ensure that the proposed legislation reflects the realities and needs of communities across Eastern Equatoria State.

What key provisions should be included in the Anti-GBV Bill to strengthen the protection of women and girls and ensure accountability for perpetrators?

Members of the public are encouraged to share their views and recommendations with the Itwak Women Empowerment organisation.
