South Sudan Revenue Authority Board of Directors have nullified an administrative order issued in march by the commissioner General and reinstated commissioners.
According to a statement that was issued by the office of the Board Chairperson, the order purported to create advisory positions within the Customs Revenue Division and the Domestic Tax Revenue Division without the approval of the Board of Directors
The Board emphasized that the creation of such positions constitutes an unlawful alteration of the approved organizational structure and exceeds the legal mandate of the Commissioner General, contrary to the provisions of the Act.
“The Administrative Order issued on 24 March 2026 by the Commissioner General, creating advisory positions within the Customs Revenue Division and the Domestic Tax Revenue Division, is hereby nullified with immediate effect for being inconsistent with the law and issued without proper authority,” the statement partly read.
The board also reinstated Jackline Adut Deng as Acting Commissioner for Corporate Services Division, with immediate effect, pending the Board’s final determination regarding the status of the suspended substantive Commissioner.
Gumnok Manhom Gol was Confirmed as the Deputy Commissioner for Tax Audit – Domestic Tax Revenue Division (DTRD) with immediate effect.
“All Deputy Commissioners affected by the above-mentioned nullified Administrative Orders are hereby reinstated to their respective positions as held on 1 March 2026, with immediate effect,” the statement continued.
The board urged all divisions and departments of the South Sudan Revenue Authority to comply fully with this decision and ensure strict adherence to the provisions of the SSRA Act.
“This Decision of the Board of Directors shall take effect immediately upon signature. The Commissioner General is hereby directed to implement this Decision forthwith,” the statement stated.
