The Secretary General of the SPLM Juba County Secretariat, Henry Darteyo Ladu, convened separate meetings with Payam chairpersons and directors of political clubs to discuss preparations for the upcoming voter registration exercise.
This initiative involved youth training ahead of South Sudan’s December 2026 general elections.
The meetings focused on strengthening grassroots mobilisation as the party intensifies its preparations for the electoral process.
Henry urged local party leaders to ensure members actively participate in the voter registration exercise, which is scheduled to commence on July 24, 2026.
He emphasised that registering eligible members is essential to enhancing public participation in the elections and strengthening the party’s organisational structures.
The SPLM state secretary instructed Payam chairpersons and political club directors to work closely with local authorities and community leaders to facilitate a smooth registration process, address logistical challenges, and ensure transparency and inclusivity throughout the exercise.
The secretary general also called for comprehensive preparations for the upcoming SPLM Youth League Training Program, describing young people as a critical pillar in the party’s campaign strategy.
He said the training would equip youth members with practical skills in voter mobilisation, campaign organisation, civic engagement, and grassroots leadership, enabling them to play a more active role during the election period.
Henry noted that investing in the capacity of young people would not only strengthen the party’s electoral readiness but also contribute to developing future leaders capable of advancing national unity and sustainable development.
The meetings reaffirmed the SPLM Juba County Secretariat’s commitment to expanding voter registration, promoting civic awareness, and empowering young leaders as part of preparations for a peaceful, inclusive, and credible electoral process ahead of the December 2026 general elections.
