The police authorities in the Lakes State’s capital, Rumbek, have been hunting and investigating an unknown gunman who shot and killed a civil defense officer identified as Manyiel Achut on duty at Boh 2 Petrol Station.
The police spokesperson, Lt. Col. Elijah Mabor Makuac, said there was a tragic incident that happened around 3:15 A.M.
He said an unknown gunman came and killed civil defense personnel at the patrol station of Boh 2 station in Rumbek town.
“We heard the sound of gunshots at the patrol station. The police tried to intervene, and it was found out that all the attackers had fled the scene,” he said. “Up to now (yesterday), the police still following up to identify the criminals to be arrested for investigation.”
He said the tragic incident occurred within Rumbek town, and it was very unfortunate.
The medical director in Rumbek State Hospital, Dr. Terran Madit Terran, confirmed the killing of the civil defense personnel patrol station guard who was tragically shot dead by an unknown gunman in Rumbek Town.
Dr. Terran Madit describes the incident as one of the strange incidents in which a Boh 2 patrol station guard was killed with multiple gunshots to the chest and everywhere in the body, including his legs.
“Yes, it is true [that] a patrol station guard was brought to hospital for postmortem examinations after he was shot multiple times and killed by an unknown gunman inside Rumbek town,” he said.
“The deceased’s body was brought to the hospital and was taken home for burial by the relatives after postmortem examinations, which confirmed his death with multiple gunshots on his chest and others on the leg.”
He said this is one of the rarest incidents that occurred in Rumbek Town because most of the incident occurred outside Rumbek town.
