Minister of Presidential Affairs, Africano Mande Gedima, handed over two Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles to the government of Western Equatoria State in a move aimed at strengthening government operations and improving public service delivery.
The vehicles were officially received by Governor Badagbu Daniel Rimbasa during a handover ceremony held on Friday in Yambio.
Speaking at the event, Governor Badagbu expressed gratitude to Minister Africano Mande for the donation, describing it as timely support that would enhance government officials’ mobility and improve the state’s capacity to deliver essential services to residents.
He said Western Equatoria has experienced significant transportation challenges after several government vehicles became unavailable or were damaged, which has affected the efficiency of government operations.
“The donation comes at a critical time when the state is facing logistical constraints. These vehicles will greatly improve the movement of government officials and strengthen service delivery across Western Equatoria,” Badagbu said.
Minister Africano Mande Gedima said the donation reflects the national government’s commitment to supporting state institutions and ensuring that local authorities have the necessary resources to carry out their responsibilities effectively.
He noted that reliable transportation is essential for government officials to reach communities, supervise development programs, and respond to the needs of citizens across the state.
Earlier this year, the minister donated vehicles to the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) leadership in Maridi County as well as to the Commissioners of Maridi and Ibba counties to strengthen local government administration.
He also extended support to Maridi Girls’ Boarding Secondary School, providing assistance aimed at promoting girls’ education and increasing access to quality learning opportunities.
The latest donation is expected to improve administrative coordination and facilitate the implementation of government programs across Western Equatoria as the state continues efforts to enhance public service delivery and development.
