Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony has welcomed an investment proposal by Al Wasit Mining Company, describing it as a significant step toward unlocking the state’s mineral wealth and promoting sustainable economic growth.
Speaking during a courtesy meeting with representatives of Al Wasit Mining Company on Thursday, Governor Adil emphasised the importance of responsible investment in the mining sector, saying Central Equatoria’s abundant mineral resources have the potential to transform the state’s economy.
He noted that strategic investment in mining could create employment opportunities, strengthen local industries, increase government revenue, and improve the livelihoods of communities across the state.
The meeting, led by the State Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Mawa A. Moses, focused on the company’s proposal to establish a joint venture with the Central Equatoria State Government aimed at developing the mining sector.
Governor Adil reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating a transparent, accountable, and investor-friendly business environment that encourages responsible investment while ensuring that local communities benefit from the state’s natural resources.
He said the state government remains committed to working with private sector investors to harness Central Equatoria’s mineral potential in a sustainable manner, in line with national laws and development priorities.
The proposed partnership is expected to support economic diversification by attracting investment into the mining industry, creating jobs for residents, and stimulating growth in related sectors.
Al Wasit Mining Company said its proposed collaboration with the state government is intended to promote the responsible exploration and development of mineral resources while contributing to long-term economic development in Central Equatoria State.
The initiative comes as the state government continues to seek investment opportunities aimed at accelerating development, expanding the private sector, and improving the welfare of its citizens through sustainable use of natural resources.
