SSNOC, Chinese Embassy discuss stronger cooperation to develop sports

The South Sudan National Olympic Committee (SSNOC) has held discussions with the Chinese Embassy in Juba on strengthening cooperation and identifying new opportunities to support sports development in South Sudan.

The SSNOC President, Choul Laam, and Secretary General, Chol Anei, together with officials from the SSNOC headquarters, met with Ma Qiang, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to South Sudan, to discuss areas of potential partnership in the country’s sporting sector.

According to a statement from the South Sudan National Olympic Committee, the meeting focused on opportunities to deepen cooperation in sports development, athlete support, capacity building and sports infrastructure, among other areas.

The SSNOC said stronger partnerships with international friends and development partners are important to the growth of the country’s sporting ecosystem and the Olympic movement.

“The meeting explored opportunities to deepen collaboration in areas including sports development, athlete support, capacity building, infrastructure and other initiatives that can contribute to the growth of the sporting ecosystem and Olympic movement in South Sudan,” the SSNOC said in its statement.
