More than 520 farmers in Magwi County have received vegetable seeds and farming tools aimed at boosting food production, strengthening household livelihoods, and building community resilience.
The support, implemented by the Child Relief and Support Organisation (CRSO) following a request to the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), targets farmers in Magwi, Iwire, and Obbo Payams.
CRSO Program Manager Mr. Adigas Rahman told Voice of Freedom that 250 farmers benefited in Magwi Payam, 175 in Abara of Iwire Payam, and 95 in Obbo Payam.
The organisation distributed eight varieties of vegetable seeds, together with essential farming tools including hoes, rakes, and other agricultural implements.
Rahman said beneficiaries were selected from CRSO-supported Farmers’ Savings and Producer Groups and Community Management Savings Groups, whose members depend on agriculture for both household consumption and income generation.
He urged the beneficiaries to make proper use of the seeds and tools, emphasising that increased agricultural production could help improve household incomes and strengthen food security.
Rahman also encouraged farmers who were not included in the current distribution to remain patient, saying CRSO plans to expand its support to additional communities.
CRSO operates in Magwi County as an implementing partner of the Stromme Foundation, supporting communities through livelihood development and resilience-building initiatives.
